temptation, and in that temptation we can stray from who 00:02:22.160 --> 00:02:29.260 God has called us to be in him and choose to worship idols, trying to discover the meaning and value of who we all have insecurities as people. 00:02:54.660 --> 00:02:57.260 We face them both internally and externally. 00:02:57.480 --> 00:03:00.110 We're going to look at the insecurity Abraham is facing today. might know who God has called you to be in this world. 00:03:12.620 --> 00:03:14.240 You might have discovered Christ and you. 00:03:14.500 --> 00:03:16.340 You begin to find your identity shaped in him. 00:03:16.340 --> 00:03:23.420 But then when you step out into the world to live out that purpose, sometimes you might hide from that identity simply because you're more concerned with what people know it externally, but you know it internally because you're not being faithful to what God has called you to. 00:03:35.760 --> 00:03:39.860 And so we struggle in our insecurities because we want to but we can also face it externally. 00:03:55.600 --> 00:04:02.560 There might be certain pressures or certain adversity that you've gone through in your life, and you might all of a sudden believe 00:05:11.620 their faith is spectacular. 00:05:12.140 --> 00:05:15.420 But my faith, I'm, I'm nothing compared to them. 00:05:15.660 --> 00:05:19.790 Sometimes we have the tendency to look at Bible characters and put them on this pedestal like they're great. 00:05:20.040 --> 00:05:24.020 And I'm just the B team or maybe the C team, or maybe you don't even get an alphabet. 00:05:24.120 --> 00:05:26.100 Maybe you're down to the numbers because you've gone through all the letters. 00:05:26.100 --> 00:05:32.840 I don't know, but you look at yourself different than other people because you see them as giants, and it's not ever attainable for you. 00:05:32.880 --> 00:05:36.750 And you wonder how in the world could I ever be what they are because I'm not as great as they are. 00:05:37.100 --> 00:05:42.460 But then you read stories like the life of Abraham and, Abraham and Sarah, they're certainly famous. 00:05:42.460 --> 00:05:46.380 But what you discover in this passage is they are by far they are far from perfect. 00:05:46.860 --> 00:05:48.860 They are far from perfect people. 00:05:48.860 --> 00:05:53.000 They may mess up and they fail to follow God at certain times. 00:05:53.060 land. 00:07:22.040 --> 00:07:29.520 When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai or Sarah, his wife, I know that you are a woman, beautiful in appearance, and 00:07:29.520 --> 00:07:33.720 when the Egyptians see you, they will say, this is his wife. 00:07:33.720 --> 00:07:36.780 Then they will kill me, but they will let you live. 00:07:37.140 --> 00:07:43.160 Say, you are my sister, that it house, and for her sake he dealt well with Abraham. 00:07:58.480 --> 00:08:04.060 And he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels. 00:08:05.240 --> 00:08:05.260 So. 00:08:05.400 --> 00:08:06.570 So here's how the story progresses. 00:08:07.260 --> 00:08:11.610 Abraham is given this promise of God, and he gets to the land, and he realizes the land has got a famine. 00:08:12.560 --> 00:08:19.240 And rather than continue in the faith that God has called him to, rather than continue on the journey, the step of faith that Abraham is has taken. 00:08:19.320 --> 00:08:26.420 Now he gets to this position where he feels insecure, and in that insecurity now he decides to compromise. 00:08:27.340 --> 00:08:34.450 And you know, this is really a place for all of us to consider what it means to take a step of faith in the Lord. 00:08:34.799 --> 00:08:41.100 This happens, I think, to all of us, that you might hear the call of God in your life if you ever if you've been baptized in Christ, that public profession, one of the encouragements like to give to people that have been baptized is 00:09:15.360 --> 00:09:21.420 be mindful of your walk in these first few days, because this is often the place where Satan will tempt you. 00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:24.520 This is often the place where you're going to find big challenges in your life. the promise of God that he was willing to pack up everything in a land where his family and friends lived and 00:09:36.640 --> 00:09:39.510 move hundreds of miles, which people in his day did not do. 00:09:47.080 --> 00:09:53.200 But when he gets there, it's like all of a sudden he forgets the promises of God is now because of the adversity he's experiencing in this land. 00:09:53.200 --> --> 00:10:35.600 It doesn't just cause him to compromise in the Lord once he compromises in the Lord, and both ways that he's given a promise that Abraham not 00:10:35.600 --> 00:10:37.770 only are going to have land, but you've got a wife. 00:10:37.980 --> 00:10:44.070 And through this wife I'm going to give you a child, and through this child it's going to bless the world, because through him wife, I mean, if I give Abraham a little credit in this passage, it does say he's going to Egypt to sojourn, which means 00:10:56.400 --> 00:11:01.900 he knows he's not going to make a permanent place 00:24:16.040 I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 00:24:16.040 --> 00:24:19.140 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. 00:24:21.360 --> 00:24:28.580 What Paul is saying is the secret of life is not to trust compromise by trusting in the circumstance or put on the facade of stuff. 00:24:30.060 --> 00:24:31.440 But to depend on the Lord to carry me
