systematic treaty's of the gospel. 00:00:41.180 --> 00:00:48.550 And the reason for that is all the other books, all the other letters that are written in Scripture, 00:00:49.240 --> 00:00:56.700 like Titus or Timothy, that are written to specific individuals or Colossians or Galatians 00:00:56.700 --> 00:00:59.100 or Ephesians that were written to specific churches. 00:01:01.100 --> 00:01:04.080 Paul is familiar with them. 00:01:05.239 --> 00:01:06.800 He knows them intimately. 00:01:06.920 --> 00:01:10.180 He spends years with Titus and Timothy. 00:01:10.180 --> 00:01:14.600 He spends years in Ephesians, in Ephesus, in Corinth. 00:01:14.980 --> 00:01:22.180 He spends months or weeks with the people of Thessalonica in Philippi and a lot of the other 00:01:22.180 --> 00:01:25.040 places that receive letters from Paul. 00:01:25.840 --> 00:01:34.300 So when Paul is writing those letters, the letters of Philippians, the letters of Titus, the letters of Timothy, he 00:01:34.300 --> 00:01:41.000 is building on a foundation that he has already laid out, such as? 00:01:41.000 --> 00:01:48.060 And what he does is he clarifies doctrine that he's already taught them or he addresses specific 00:01:48.060 --> 00:01:55.640 moral failings that they're having in the church, such as the letter of First Corinthians, or he confronts 00:01:55.960 --> 00:02:03.090 bad theology that has corrupt, crept up in the church like the Gnosticism that happens in colossi. 00:02:04.540 --> 00:02:12.530 Or he outs the super apostles or false teachers that you see in Second Corinthians. 00:02:13.500 --> 00:02:20.600 But the thing is, when Paul writes the letter of Romans to the people of Rome, the Church of Rome, he has 00:02:20.600 --> 00:02:21.900 never met them. 00:02:22.820 --> 00:02:26.360 He has no idea what they know and what they do not know. 00:02:28.020 --> 00:02:32.700 Which because he hadn't spent months or years teaching them. 00:02:33.300 --> 00:02:37.870 that is able to save, no matter who you are, whether Jew 00:04:31.060 --> 00:04:35.240 or Gentile, and there is nothing else that can save you. 00:04:36.680 --> 00:04:44.420 For in the Gospel, the What he is declaring is a victory against the powers of darkness that have separated mankind 00:12:49.240 --> 00:12:52.160 from their creator since the fall. 00:12:53.880 --> 00:12:58.780 And the being death. 00:13:11.300 --> 00:13:18.660 Romans Chapter one Paul begins explaining why the gospel is so necessary, 00:13:19.080 --> 00:13:23.860 laying out the problem with mankind, which is their sinful hearts, their depravity. 00:13:24.240 --> 00:13:29.620 He explains how it how the problem with mankind has never been about ignorance. 00:13:29.820 --> 00:13:32.000 That has always been about arrogance. 00:13:32.700 --> 00:13:40.080 Knowing that, thinking that they know better than God, thinking that they are beyond the morality of 00:13:40.080 --> 00:13:45.440 God, and that we can somehow make our own morality that is better than his. 00:13:46.760 --> 00:13:50.120 Or that were, in fact, an exception of that fact. 00:13:50.140 --> 00:13:57.640 Romans 132 says this although they knew the ordinances of Ordinances of God, meaning 00:13:57.640 --> 00:14:05.000 they knew what God said was right and wrong, and that those who practice such things are worthy of death, meaning they knew the results 00:14:05.000 --> 00:14:06.920 of doing those things. 00:14:07.320 --> 00:14:13.480 Not only do they do the same, but they give hearty approval to those who practice them. 00:14:14.620 --> 00:14:16.500 The problem with mankind. 00:14:17.720 --> 00:14:24.080 Is the arrogance of their heart, their sinful tendencies, their depravity, and Romans, too. 00:14:24.080 --> 00:14:31.700 Paul starts explaining that God is just that God isn't just going to sweep evil 00:14:31.700 --> 00:14:34.910 or wickedness under the rug and not leave it unpunished. 00:14:35.780 --> 00:14:37.510 And he is right to be just. 00:14:37.920 --> 00:14:41.480 Therefore, he must judge the wickedness. 00:14:41.940 --> 00:14:43.620 He must judge evil. 00:14:45.480 --> 00:14:47.440 And he must judge sin. three clearly demonstrates is that every single person is in the same boat, that there is no one who does good continually. 00:19:04.680 --> 00:19:11.820 As Solomon said back in the book of Ecclesiastes, we have all sinned and fallen 00:19:11.820 --> 00:19:16.580 short of that glory, of God, of God's character. 00:19:17.260 --> 00:19:18.540 We've missed the mark. 00:19:21.820 --> And because we are under the power of sin, because of our depravity and the sinfulness of our human heart, we are 00:19:49.020 --> 00:19:56.160 in a wrong standing with God and no amount of living by --> 00:20:09.580 And then you ask, what's the purpose of the law? 00:20:10.580 --> 00:20:17.200 And he tells us right here, it's he says that the law illuminates our brokenness. 00:20:18.700 --> who believe, for there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God being justified as 00:21:44.160 --> 00:21:51.500 a gift by His grace through the redemption which is
