Egypt to the Negev. 00:03:00.080 --> 00:03:03.020 He, his wife, and all he had in lot with him. 00:03:03.960 --> 00:03:07.980 Lot's his nephew Abraham was very rich in livestock, silver and gold. 00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:15.700 He went by stages from the Negev to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and AI, where his tent had formerly been, 00:03:15.960 --> 00:03:18.350 and so on his way he was in Iran. 00:03:18.440 --> 00:03:25.460 He had stopped in a place between Bethel, and I built an altar to the Lord in back in Genesis 12, and worshiped the 00:03:25.460 --> 00:03:26.060 Lord there. 00:03:26.220 --> 00:03:27.020 But he was in the wrong place. 00:03:28.460 --> 00:03:35.900 But he has gone back to where he originally started, before he left Haran and bypassed 00:03:35.900 --> land of Canaan. 00:05:43.960 --> 00:05:50.560 And then we see there's still issues and trials and tribulations going on in Abraham's life, in spite of following God's call. 00:05:50.660 --> faith follow God and did all these marvelous things for God. 00:08:28.580 --> 00:08:33.720 And again, I was this overly zealous guy who had just been saved by the grace of Christ. 00:08:33.780 --> section that talks about Abraham's great faith, this great person of faith. 00:09:18.860 --> 00:09:24.840 By faith Abraham went, he was called, obeyed, and went out to a place he was going to receive with Isaac and Jacob coheirs of the same promise. 00:09:34.380 --> 00:09:38.860 So if you're going to parachute into the New Testament and into Hebrews chapter 11, you see all these people of faith. 00:09:39.260 --> 00:09:45.020 What I was doing is I was parachuting in, and I did not know the Old Testament background of who Abraham was, his story and what he had gone through. 00:09:46.840 --> 00:09:53.840 Because Abraham wasn't this great man of faith, this super human being who was perfect, and all this righteousness we see 00:09:53.840 --> 00:09:55.300 in Genesis 12. 00:09:55.900 --> 00:10:02.600 He's just like you and I. 00:10:04.160 --> 00:10:04.640 We all fall short. 00:10:06.200 --> 00:10:10.470 We all can't follow God's golf call perfectly in our own strength, on our own power. 00:10:11.940 --> 00:10:15.340 And so Hebrews 11 shows Abraham is this great man of faith. 00:10:16.180 --> 00:10:23.180 But we see through the scriptures that Abraham's faith was grown in him not by his who 00:10:23.180 --> 00:10:26.570 he was, or his own righteousness, or his own intestinal fortitude. 00:10:27.520 --> 00:10:34.520 It was grown through looking to God and trusting in God's promises through his trials and through 00:10:34.520 --> 00:10:35.060 his tribulations. 00:10:36.720 --> 00:10:40.920 That's ultimately what Abraham's growth Abraham's faith grew out of. 00:10:42.620 --> 00:10:49.620 Learning to rely on God and His strength and his promises through the trials, instead of relying 00:10:49.620 --> 00:10:50.840 on our own strength and fortitude. 00:10:52.360 --> to grow. 00:11:09.440 --> 00:11:16.500 And so if we desire to have a great place to grow, have a greater faith grown in us, and a greater reliance 00:11:16.500 --> 00:11:23.140 on God in our own lives and our own walks with the Lord, it's not in our own strength and our own power. 00:11:24.340 --> 00:11:28.720 It's just as Abraham is has done. 00:11:29.380 --> 00:11:33.560 He goes to the source of the power to grow in faith, and that is the Lord. 00:11:33.720 --> 00:11:40.140 So the first thing we see here, if we want to increase our faith, is we need to have a repentance, a life of repentance. had built the altar. 00:11:52.480 --> 00:11:54.780 And Abraham worshiped there, the Lord there. 00:11:57.140 --> 00:12:00.640 So it's funny how the Lord miraculously delivers them out of Egypt. what God is trying to do, what God desires from us, from his people, I 00:13:23.680 --> 00:13:25.520 think it's reduced down very simply. 00:13:26.380 --> 00:13:31.220 He wants us, just like Abraham,
