his life. 00:08:57.280 --> 00:08:59.780 But we also find that there were prayers that Paul never had answered. 00:09:00.960 --> 00:09:03.010 Paul prayed, God, would you heal me from this thorn in the flesh? 00:09:03.260 --> 00:09:04.600 And the thorn in the flesh never went away. 00:09:05.900 --> 00:09:12.940 He told Timothy, Timothy, take some wine to help settle your stomach, because there's an ailment in which God is just not going to take care of it is 00:09:12.940 --> 00:09:14.500 what you are to endure in life. 00:09:15.940 --> 00:09:17.480 Jesus himself suffered on the cross. 00:09:17.500 --> 00:09:21.780 You think of the disciples and the apostles, all of them dying a martyr's death, but one. 00:09:22.860 --> 00:09:26.550 When we follow Jesus, it doesn't dictate that life what we find is as we live for his kingdom. 00:10:15.340 --> 00:10:18.060 God then begins to strengthen our lives here on earth. 00:10:19.320 --> 00:10:22.460 Doesn't necessitate that things always 00:12:14.320 And in verse three Paul starts a sentence that doesn't end till verse 14. 00:12:14.960 --> 00:12:18.140 You can imagine about that's an F in college today, right? 00:12:18.140 --> 00:12:19.600 What Paul's thinking. 00:12:19.600 --> 00:12:21.850 But in his time they considered that he's so smart. 00:12:22.360 --> 00:12:22.460 Right. 00:12:22.780 --> 00:12:30.100 And what he does as he begins to list this for us in our worship for him, Paul just lists for us five things that he wants us to understand as to why we 00:12:30.100 --> 00:12:30.970 gather together. 00:12:31.320 --> 00:12:35.300 It's not about what God's necessarily going to do for us, but it's about who he is. 00:12:36.340 --> 00:12:39.860 And in focusing on who he is, God then begins to transform our lives.
